The Lillian Osborne Legends Football program officially kicked off Spring 2026 with a Parents, Players, and Coaches Meeting on May 6 in the Main Gym at Lillian Osborne High School (meeting presentation attached).
Led by the head coach, Coach Somerville, the evening was a chance for returning players, new players, and families to get a clear picture of where the program is headed this season. Families were introduced to returning and new members of the coaching staff, had the opportunity to put faces to names, and heard more about the vision and philosophy guiding Legends football.
A key message from the evening was that the program is about much more than what happens on the scoreboard. The Legends continue to build around the idea of developing the whole athlete: strong students, strong teammates, and young people of character. The program’s foundations of faith, family, and football, along with its pillars of passion, resilience, community, and character, were highlighted as the standard players are expected to carry into the classroom, the locker room, the field, and the community.
Player safety was also emphasized in the meeting, including the program’s commitment to safe tackling, quality equipment, concussion protocols, and proper return-to-play procedures. Just as the team is committed to building strong athletes, it is equally committed to making sure players are coached, equipped, and supported in ways that protect their well-being. For the Legends, player safety is not separate from player development; it is part of building a responsible, disciplined, and trusted football program.
The evening also included the introduction of the 2026 LO Legends team captains, Tomas Thomas, #1, WR/DB, Kingsley Algee, #2, DB, Marcus Wee, #4, DB, Max Keddie, #11, WR, Jibreel Khan, #69, OL, Tyler Morley, #72, DT. This group of student athletes will help set the tone for the season ahead by modelling the work ethic, discipline, leadership, and character expected within the program. As visible leaders on and off the field, they represent the standard the team is building toward for the 2026 season.
Spring camp begins May 14 and will guide players through evaluation, installation, review, and preparation for the spring exhibition. Throughout camp, players will take part in athletic testing, position work, fundamentals, scheme development, and live reps as coaches prepare the team for the season ahead (see the team schedule for dates and times). The spring schedule wraps up on May 27 with an exhibition matchup against the M.E. LaZerte Voyageurs at JP Bowl. The game will give players a chance to show what they have learned, compete together, and set the tone for fall football.
With spring camp just around the corner, the message from the night was clear: the Legends are ready to keep building, keep growing, and keep raising the standard.
#beLegendary in 2026!
